Cumberland

Hall has provided comprehensive mental health services to children,

adolescents and adults for more than 20 years. Since our

establishment in 1987, we have been a trusted and respected member of

the Hopkinsville, Kentucky, community. Cumberland Hall is located

near Fort Campbell Military Base and is 60 minutes north of

Nashville, Tennessee, Cumberland Hall currently serves children,

adolescents and adults with behavioral and substance abuse issues.

Cumberland Hall is

a 97-bed facility.

The Mental

Health Tech:
Serves as a mentor and

positive role model for staff. Also, provides direction and guidance to staff in the

implementation of the program. Serves as positive role model for the patients to observe and

learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors. Assists in the treatment

program and implementation of patient treatment plans under the

direction of a therapist. Implements appropriate therapeutic activities, approaches, and

related psychiatric interventions, within the therapeutic

environment. Is

responsible for implementation of the program structure and assigned

functions according to the philosophy, goals and direction of the

treatment program guidelines. Facilitates groups and uses therapeutic techniques to interact

with participants. Able

to adapt to change easily. Completes necessary documentation. Is a key member in a team approach to providing

treatment. Provides

input to therapeutic approach. CPI and CPR/First Aid required.

. Acts as a mentor to new employees as

assigned. Takes an

active role in providing department specific skill instruction to new

employees assigned. Ensures the completion of the Departmental Orientation and

Competency Checklist on assigned cases and forwards to Human

Resources. Updates the

DON on employee orientation progress of assigned cases.

. Utilizes Universal Precautions consistently with

required use of personal protective equipment. Follows Infection Control

policies and procedures and assists in maintaining a clean

environment.

. Assesses and interacts with all patients in

accordance with the Master Treatment Plan and the therapeutic process

with consideration to age, cultural values and religious

beliefs.

. Assists with admission and discharge of patients

and their orientation to the program.

. Uses program activities to assist patients in

deficits in ego strength. Assists patients in learning more adaptive behaviors to gain a

sense of self-identity.

. Provides regular communication with staff on all

shifts. Documents

thoroughly the daily monitoring sheet.

. Obtains vital signs and documents these in the

medical record as directed by the registered nurse. Reports any unusual findings

to the registered nurse.

. Escorts patients to meals as assigned and

monitors food intake, documenting the medical record according to

policy and procedure to ensure adequate nutritional intake. Accompanies patients to

diagnostic evaluations and consultant appointments as

directed.

. Utilizes proper procedures in the application of

use of special treatment procedures (restraint and seclusion)

according to facility policy and procedure and State of Kentucky

Mental Health Laws.

. Reports pertinent patient behavioral

observations and changes in patient status to the registered nurse

who is co-assigned in the patient’s care

. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all

times.

Education: High

school diploma or

equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors Degree in a human service related

field preferred.

Experience : Two years experience working with people in group

situations with individuals who have mental health or developmental

problems preferred.

Licenses/Certificates: N/A

Must possess

demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to communicate

effectively with diverse groups and individuals, strong oral and

written communication skills. Must possess knowledge of therapeutic relationships as relates

to adolescents, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and

development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management

of aggressive behavior and CPR.

Near visual

acuity necessary for evaluating patients and reading charts. Eye/hand coordination and

finger dexterity essential for manual charting. Talking and hearing necessary

for conversing with and assessing patients. Ability to stand/walk for long periods of

time.
