Mechanical Engineer – Entry Level

Mechanical Engineer – Entry Level

An entry level Mechanical Engineer is expected to have a firm grasp of basic mechanical engineering principles, fundamental understanding of materials and process development, and the ability to apply these to solving problems and innovating new solutions. The focus of this position is to develop the discipline of product design through mentorship and added responsibilities. This position is seeking a highly-motivated individual who exercises independent judgment, shows creativity, and is driven to take on challenging assignments.

Job Duties

• Work within a cross-functional product development team from concept to production
• Design portions of engineering solutions for mechanical systems, including process development for R&D/prototype lines with the intent to transfer to a manufacturing line
• Design components/subsystems using SolidWorks CAD software
• Integrate mechanical design requirements with material parameters and process requirements
• Develop relationships with internal and outsourced development partners for mechanical and electrical hardware designs
• Conduct root cause failure investigations and solution engineering
• Interface with teams in different geographical locations. Some travel will be required. Teamwork and ability to collaborate and communicate ideas is highly valued.

Required Experience

• 0 – 5 years

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledgeable in mechanical engineering, design tools, and software packages
• Understanding of design for electro-mechanical components and mechanical assemblies
• Understanding of joining methods and mechanical properties of materials
• Willingness to work hands-on to integrate tooling, materials, and processing parameters to deliver quality products
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work as part of a team

Other Requirements

• Ability to travel up to 30%, typically between Princeton Identity offices in NJ and CT
• U.S. Citizenship
