Job Description: Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary: ChemBio Shelter Inc. has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Beaver, WV. The candidate will work with the engineering manager and become intimately familiar with underground mining rescue chambers which will involve working with high pressure oxygen and air circuits. Computer aided 2D and 3 D design programs will be utilized to maintain and develop new product lines. The candidate will be expected to work with MSHA to maintain all current MSHA certifications as well as designing specific testing procedures to obtain future MSHA and NIOSH approvals. The candidate will also be designing and testing various types of cryogenic breathing apparatuses and reporting the progress to all agencies involved.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, perform and write all test procedures necessary for obtaining all future MSHA and NIOSH approvals as well as maintain current approvals
• Design equipment using computer aided modeling programs
• Work with the shop foreman to assure products are built per the design parameters
• 10% overnight travel is required

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but an Associate degree may be accepted based on experience
• A Strong background in Fluid Mechanics, Heat & Mass Transfer and Thermodynamics is required
• Must be proficient with AutoCad, Inventor or other related 3D drafting and design programs
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
• Strong public speaking skills

Experience:

• Experience in the underground coal mining industry is preferred
• A working knowledge of MSHA is a plus
