Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:
In our Seattle office we are looking for a Mechanical

Engineer (PE) with at least 5 years of experience,

specifically working in HVAC systems designing

commercial buildings, to be a part of our dynamic team!

The essential functions of this position include being

able to complete detailed designs, including preparing

drawings and specifications, complete or assist with the

completion of technical calculations, coordinate work

within the Mazzetti team (including sustainability and

LEED efforts) and with other disciplines, and may

require the participation in or management of the

submittal review process and other contract

administration activities associated with construction

phase services.

Expected Abilities:

  • Intermediate to advanced user of AutoCad and Revit

Programs

  • Learn to layout mechanical equipment rooms,

accounting for constructible installation and

equipment service requirements.

  • Assist with basic diagrams of various types of

hydronic systems, determine required system

components and describe operating parameters to

depict a complete and fully operational system.

  • Assist with performing calculations required to

design systems that adhere to utility company

requirements, the AHJ and all applicable codes.

  • Develop a knowledge of, and the ability to

incorporate the requirements of, applicable codes

and standards into the project design

  • Assist with coordinating, collaborating, and

communicating project requirements with the project

architect, contractors, and other engineering

disciplines.

  • Ability to design a variety of basic to moderate

mechanical HVAC systems. Systems would include low

and medium pressure air distribution systems, steam

systems, heating water systems, chilled water

systems and basic control systems.

  • Ability to analyze equipment and system energy use,

and select appropriate equipment and systems to

optimize energy efficiency given the intended

purpose.

  • Assist with construction site walk-throughs,

initially with a senior designer or engineer, and

write clear and concise field observation reports.

Job Requirements:Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering

or Architectural Engineering

  • PE License
  • Minimum 5years of applicable work experience
