Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

1. Use SolidWorks 3D CAD software to generate the following deliverables for each project:

A complete 3D model with all required part, weldment and assemblies detailed for fabrication.

A complete drawing package that contains all required documentation as well as associated QC requirements to ensure a quality end product.

A Bill of Materials (BOM) that contains references to all parts, components, and assemblies required to construct a kiosk, indicating color specifications, consigned components, and quantities for both individual and total project quantities.

2. Revises engineering drawings (detail and assembly drawings), models, and BOMs as required by an approved Engineering Change Notice (ECN) in response to manufacturing changes or changes to the product requirements.

3. Utilizes knowledge of various manufacturing processes, engineering practices, and prior design elements to fabricate design packages.

4. Maintains notes, design calculations and other documentation for future reference.

5. Saves and maintains all project files in accordance with the established filing system for each project.

6. Acquires approval via an ECN prior to making any changes from the provided product drawings or product descriptions.

7. Proposes solutions when faced with design challenges.

8. Utilizes Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) practices to assure that the products can be manufactured in an efficient and cost effective means while adhering to the product’s requirements as described by customer requirements.

9. Tracks project timeline and utilization using project management software.

10. Works as required on sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and marketing driven projects. Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience

BS Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent technical expertise and education

Experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD software

Experience with BOM generation

Experience with SolidWorks Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM)

Experience with sheet metal design and manufacturing

Experience with electronic components (displays, computers, printers, etc.) and how they work together

Experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)
