Materials Researcher II

The Polymers R&D team has an opening for a material scientist or engineer to contribute to research projects broadly related to polymer science and engineering. Competencies employed include: Polymer physics and chemistry, functional polymeric materials, rheology and polymer processing, numerical simulations and modeling. The individual should possess expertise in a field or several fields related to these research areas. The candidate will be tasked with using this knowledge to support projects in the Polymers R&D group related to applications, processing and development of new polymeric materials for the Air MI team.

The person will be tasked with: contributing to innovation projects, designing and conducting lab experiments, data analysis and modeling, managing technician workflow, managing new projects and contributing to the overall research goals of the group. Due to the Polymers R&D group’s close proximity to the manufacturing teams, the individual will also have the opportunity to contribute to failure and root cause analysis as these needs arise.

The successful candidate should also possess good project planning skills, be able to interact with non-experts and distill complex scientific concepts down to relevant key facts. For these reasons exceptional presentation and data analysis skills are essential.
