Material Handler

SCOPE:
TheMaterial Handler reports directly to the Receiving Supervisor and is responsiblefor using a forklift to support the movement of materials from receiving,through the manufacturing process, and then finished product from shipping. Works closely with manufacturing, quality,and other logistics personnel. The position is located at the Amsterdam, NewYork LEED® certified production facility.

PRINCIPLERESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Uses forklift to load/unload trucksor containers, move items into or out of production, and into or out of storage(vertical racking, flow racking, in ambient or freezer locations).

Inspect trucks or containers priorto loading/unloading.

Issues components and uses forkliftto stage materials for production.

Uses forklift to move garbage, waste,etc.

Safely operates equipment (Sit down/Standup forklift, pallet jack, etc.) to accomplish job tasks. Performs equipment inspections prior to use.

Use of scanning equipment or completesmanual entries to ensure accurate and timely tracking of inventory. This includes processing accurate incomingreceipts and outgoing shipments.

Attaches identifying tags to boxesor marks them with identifying information.

Operates, changeovers, cleans, andtroubleshoots palletizing equipment.

Keeps warehouse clean and organizedto ensure a safe work environment.

Assists in cycle counts and physical inventories.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education:
HighSchool Diploma or GED required

Experience:
Basic computer skills required (ex. typing).

Ability to read and write in English language required.

Experiencein light industrial or warehousing preferred. Previousmaterial handling equipment (forklift) experience a plus.

Conceptual and practical experience with Lean principles a plus.

P referred Certifications:
Lean Certification

Preferred Systems:
Experience using warehouse systems (ex. SAP, Oracle).

Experience with RF guns or Voice Pick. Experience using manufacturing operation systems (ex. HMI, Tabware)

WORKINGCONDITIONS :
Jobfunctions are performed in a manufacturing environment that requires wearing ofcompany provided uniform, hair net, beard cover, hearing protection, protectivesafety eyewear and safety-toed shoes. Other personal protection equipment maybe required for certain tasks. Restrictions include wearing of jewelry, nailpolish and acrylic nails.
