Marketing Specialist

University of Maryland, Baltimore is currently seeking a Marketing Specialist.

The Marketing Specialist supports marketing and communication strategies for the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law through print and digital advertising, publication and web design, and content creation for a variety of outlets that reach prospective and current students, faculty and staff, alumni and donors, and outside stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education marketing and a desire to use creative strategies to advance initiatives that enhance the law school’s image, mission, and values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Analyze marketing trends as they relate to the law school’s enrollment, alumni and donor relations, and brand awareness needs to recommend annual marketing plans and advertising purchases, both print and digital.
  • Collaboratively implement successful print and digital marketing campaigns, including production of related assets.
  • Use e-newsletters and social media driven initiatives to drive audience engagement, brand awareness, and web traffic. Support the creation of content, manage email/follower lists, meet editorial deadlines, and recommend engagement strategies.
  • Prepare reports and analytics to measure marketing campaigns, email outreach, and social media interactions.
  • Provide creative design services for print, web, email, and other outlets as necessary that are in line with law school and University branding standards.
  • May perform related administrative duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field.
  • Two years of related experience, preferable in academic setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated track record in implementing successful marketing plans.
  • Knowledge of marketing and social media platforms and their respective participants/audiences, and how each can be successfully deployed for an educational intuition. Preferably this would include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Perfect Audience, i-Contact, and Google Analytics.
  • Understanding of digital marketing options and ability to negotiate terms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow-through on tasks independently.
  • Knowledge of engagement metrics and measuring, reporting and analyzing program results using metrics tools.
  • Desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to meet multiple organizational goals.
  • Proficient in adobe design/editing software, basic HTML, and MS Office programs.
