Marketing Scientist

Swift is seeking a Marketing (Behavioral) Scientist to join our growing team in Portland, Oregon. Our Marketing and Data Science teams work closely with our Strategic Planning, Creative, and Account Management teams to deliver exceptional, results-driven work.

What you’ll do:
Marketing and Behavioral Scientists conduct empirical research to understand consumer attitudes and behaviors, uncover hidden consumer needs, identify emerging trends, and surface meaningful insights for our clients. You’ll investigate the decisions people make in social environments and use these insights to inform advertising and communication strategies.

As a Marketing (Behavioral) Scientist, you will be a driving force in the blending of art and science to bring insights to life through storytelling. Your audience includes internal creative and planning teams, as well as our clients.

  • Be a core member of our Marketing Science team, working with Creative and Strategic Planning to turn deep consumer insights into amazing consumer experiences
  • Apply the latest advertising research and decision theory to solve real-world problems
  • Work with the leadership of our planning and creative teams to identify critical moments within the consumer journey where we can improve the relationship between the brand and the consumer
  • Lead understanding of consumer and marketplace behaviors, particularly those that most impact business and marketing goals
  • Leverage industry leading platforms to develop and field surveys (Qualtrics), understand consumer conversations (Crimson Hexagon), evaluate content (Quid), connect consumer behavior to consumer attitudes and beliefs (ResearchNow, Kantar, MRI)
  • You will also work hand in hand with a team of crazy smart data scientists to help you grow and extend your own research abilities using open data (Python, R)

What you’ll need:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • An obsession for solving problems with data.
  • Strong analytic and critical thinking skills, with an eye for detail and excellent follow-through skills
  • Experience in more than one of the following:
  • Advertising or marketing theory
  • Quantitative research and survey design
  • Statistics and experimental design
  • Data analysis and storytelling
  • Social listening (Crimson Hexagon or similar experience highly preferred)
  • Able to run a project from start to finish while targeting aggressive timelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to be flexible and thrive in a rapidly-evolving environment
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Philosophy, or Statistics emphasis or commensurate work experience is highly preferred
