Marketing Communication Specialist

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for developing and executing integrated, results-oriented external marketing communication strategies and tactics that support the Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain North America (CASC NA) product lines and business needs. This position is responsible for all external marketing communications to farm customers which includes responsibility for all digital communications strategies, planning and the execution of all electronic or digital communications efforts of the product lines, across multiple digital channels (websites, social media, video, text messaging, and email). You will need to have extensive copywriting and content marketing experience and be proficient/expert in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Exact Target), our email marketing system. This position works closely with the Cargillag.com/Cargillag.ca (our farmer customer portal) product line owner to ensure brand alignment.

This position requires critical thinking; strong planning, writing and editing skills; meticulous attention to detail; and the ability to build positive, productive relationships with a wide range of leaders, business partners and marketing specialists across the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with its internal marketing teams to proactively provide advice, counsel and support on the use of marketing communications tactics/channels to achieve their business objectives and goals. The successful candidate also will apply a sound understanding of communications principles and approaches in creating plans that target farmer customers. She or he will demonstrate strong project management skills in leading the implementation of those plans, a role that includes establishing priorities, schedules and work flows; assigning roles; occasionally leading teams; maintaining quality standards; working within a complex matrix environment; and measuring results.

Principal Accountabilities

60%- Work with product line marketing specialists to provide communication direction and support that will ultimately transform a marketing plan, vision or program into relevant communications that deliver the desired impact and business goals. This will include the development of communications strategies/plans, tactics and methods to evaluate those communications tactics. Ensure Cargillag website is aligned with the Cargill brand.

20%- Consult, collaborate with and assist assigned business partners/client groups in addressing marketing communications needs and provide solutions to business challenges. Partner with external advertising agency as necessary.

20%- May be asked to help other members of the marketing communication team create communication components for customer events, offers, and promotional campaigns, and any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Ability to create and implement complex communications plans, strategies, and tactics for a broad range of products. Understand the marketing mix and how to apply marketing concepts and principles.

Exceptional content development and communication skills: writing, editing, and speaking/presenting. Ability to record internal videos. Work samples will be required.

Ability to deal with competing priorities and high levels of ambiguity in a matrix environment and to use time effectively to prevent distractions from interfering with work completion.

Ability to work independently with very little oversight, think proactively and work collaboratively across diverse groups in various locations.

Some travel may be required.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, journalism, communications, or public relations.

5+ years as a marketing communication professional.

Technical aptitude for communication solutions, such as video, emerging technologies, web and social media.

Effective project management skills.

Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations.

5+ years as a communication professional.

Exceptional writing and communication planning skills.

Technical aptitude for communication solutions, such as video, emerging technologies, web and social media.

Effective project management skills.
