Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer to support Model Based Engineering (MBE).
The Production Engineering Team will break the development program cost curve by leveraging Model Based Engineering across the aircraft, production system, and aftermarket services. We are looking for a few forward-thinking Systems, Production, and Services engineers who will help enable this initiative. Successful candidates will have demonstrated their ability for technical leadership, be willing to challenge the status-quo, and thrive in loosely structured environments.
Responsibilities include the following:
  • Support the Definition, Documentation, and Enablement of a related set of uses cases and architectures in close cooperation with development Model Based Engineering (MBE) consumers and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with program to determine Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) architectures, training, tool requirements and deployment plans
  • Align Development requirements with core function development schedules, and deployment capabilities
  • Plan, Coordinate, Execute MBSE tool integrations to support Digital Thread/ Digital Twin Corporate Initiatives
  • Support MBSE projects and activities, providing guidance and mentorship for MBSE tools and processes development
  • Support and collaborate with engineering teams on MBE activities and communicate with program leaders, including, chief engineers, system architects and program management
  • Monitor, evaluate and approve the verification results to assure that the implementation satisfies the MBE requirements and Use Cases for the development
  • The candidate Engineer will author technical requirements and technical approaches for MBE Use Cases, Architectures and Technical Performance Measures
  • Develop and oversee project plans for complex, highly integrated process and tool development, testing and implementation
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to streamline MBE data management and production use
  • Communicate performance to plan and elevating risks to successful completion to Program leadership

The successful candidate will have the following education, experience, skills and capabilities:
Required qualifications:
  • Minimum three or more years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer
  • Experience leading Integrated Production Team (IPT)
  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Typical Education & Experience
Bachelor’s and 5 or more years’ experience, Master’s degree with 3 or more years’ experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Fluent in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office Tools and able to independently produce PowerPoint briefings, MS Project schedules, MS Word Documents, and generate and manipulate Excel files
  • Working knowledge of production engineering principles to solve engineering problems, creating process-driven documentation, writing and deriving formal requirements, managing project requirements, and producing task schedules
  • Working knowledge of modeling and simulation for Production System design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading complex projects
  • Familiar with Requirement Management and the Use Case development processes
  • Bachelor of Science degree in one of the following areas is highly preferred
