Manufacturing Engineer

Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer at our Pegasus facility in Middletown, Connecticut. Pegasus Manufacturing is recognized internationally as a highly specialized manufacturer of complete turnkey solutions for the aerospace, power generation, ship and submarine building, and hi-tech industries. This position will play a key role in providing engineering solutions to ensure standards are met during the manufacturing process.

Essential Responsibilities

Design and procure assembly and weld tooling and fixtures

Assist in the design and execution of new manufacturing processes

Investigate the root cause of non-conforming material and implement corrective action

Utilize MRP/ERP system to update manufacturing routers and bills of material

Evaluate production equipment capabilities and lead capital equipment justification and procurement

Implement process improvement through lean manufacturing activities including Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events

Design and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions and welding schedules

Work closely with production personnel to identify and resolve product flow roadblocks

Develop testing procedures, test reporting formats, and train personnel as appropriate

Requirements

1 to 5 years engineering experience in contract manufacturing with aerospace experience preferred

1 to 3 years Solid Works design experience or recently completed training

Mechanical Engineering degree or any equivalent combination of experience and training

Experience with both manual and automated GTAW processes

Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Experience using both Windows and Microsoft Office Suite

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
