Manager, Transportation and Logistics

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years supply chain/transportation experience for a large retailer.
  • Inbound Freight Management experience (Ground, Rail, LTL, Imports/Exports).
  • Vendor Management – contracting, bidding and Service Level Management
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite as well as technology such as Transportation Management Systems, Network modeling and Transportation optimization.
  • Must exhibit strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Ecommerce and Parcel experience required, Home Delivery experience a plus

    • General Description of Duties:

  • Negotiate with carriers to schedule shipments and deliveries in a timely manner and ensure accountability for contracted rates.
  • Policies and procedures for shipments and RTVs.
  • Develop Vendor drop shipment programs.
  • Partner with Purchasing Department to facilitate proactive planning to optimize inventory levels and associated costs.
  • Manage, control and implement store to store transfer policies and optimize external product storage (Trailers, Containers, Warehouse space).
  • Ensure that communication between logistics services, purchasing, suppliers, shippers, distribution centers and carriers is timely and accurate by using cloud logistics platforms.
  • Build relationships with internal/external partners based on collaboration, transparency, and integrity.
  • EDI implementation and Vendor Help Desk.
  • Prepare annual spend and budget structures.
  • Focus on in-house research, reporting, and freight accountability.
  • Plan, schedule, track, and facilitate the movement of product via ground transportation.
  • Single point of contact for all things related to Store logistics: shipping, store to store transfers and RTVs.
  • Recommend innovative ideas to Store management in order to improve merchandise handling procedures and productivity.

    Salary: R31,462.00 – R33,343.00 per month
