Manager, Software Engineering (Remote)

Your Opportunity

The Client Side Platform team at New Relic builds the foundation for all of our end-user focused monitoring products: Mobile, Browser, and Synthetics. As the engineering manager, you’ll lead our engineers in the development and operation of streaming systems that take in vast amounts of data, transform and understand it, and bring value to developers around the world. Your team’s work has a direct impact on our customers’ abilities to observe their software.

What You’ll Do

Build the team. Come help establish the team that will deliver the next phase of our Client Side products. This includes hiring, career development, and team development.

Deliver. You will be running highly technical, complex projects. You’ll be responsible for the technical planning, project management and team process around delivery and operation. You can expect to work with strong partners from architecture, reliability, design and product.

Your Qualifications

This particular position requires 4+ years of software engineering management experience supporting machine scale SaaS products with high data volume.

Having technical experience in high performance backend engineering — with Java and public cloud technology — is crucial. You should have hands on experience building and operating resilient, modular streaming data pipelines at scale.

You enjoy delivering to customers, continually, and in small increments.

You value high iteration speed, low cycle times, a focus on the actual problems we’re solving for our customers, good communication and collaboration, and improving the people around us.

You are willing to adapt your management style. We’re working in a highly changing environment, and having a particular process you follow isn’t going to work.
