What does a great Manager, Programming do?

We are seeking a Software Development Manager in either our Alpharetta, GA; Glastonbury, CT or Stafford, TX office. As an operational leader, you ensure product and service lines are designed and constructed consistently, high quality, and in timely fashion in accordance with Fiserv software development standard methodologies and policies. You are an influential change agent for the organization by applying fundamental principles of business, marketing, financial management and budgeting.

What are some of the basic responsibilities for this role?

• Advanced responsibilities include direction of resources outside direct domain of responsibility and delivery of projects that cross organizational boundaries.
• You will also work closely with upper management to develop and handle the annual operating and capital budget.
• Technical responsibilities include: establishing the technical roadmaps for the product/service line(s) (e.g. resolve release cycles, technology decisions, and feature roadmaps), serving as a leader (or member) of various committees, and leading improvements based on industry standard methodologies and technology advancements.
• As Manager, Programming, you will be a key leader with vision and innovator for the management team and are expected to provide mentoring and coaching to associates.

What are the required and preferred qualifications you need for consideration?

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or similar – or equivalent experience in the CCM space
• Knowledge of COBOL programming languages or Object Oriented Languages required
• Understanding of both application and database performance optimization techniques
• Familiarity with composition tools like OpenText Exstream or Quadient PrintNet is important
• Experience or knowledge of light manufacturing required
• Rules Engines and Workflow technology like RPD, Windows batch or Unix scripting highly preferred
• Solid understanding and knowledge of PDLs to including print languages like PCL, Postscript, AFP, LCDS, Metacode, PDF and print image required
• Additional expectations include graphic files like TIFF, JPEG, PNG, EPS, SVG, etc….; file structures like flat, delimited, JASON, HTML5 and XML; Source Code Control: Subversion, ClearCase, Visual Source Safe or similar
• Firm understanding of Agile (SCRUM) methodology a big plus
• Ability to coach and mentor associates, architects, SQA and developers
• Strong leadership, listening, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Strong customer-service orientation
• Effective delegation of tasks and follow-up with ability to verify and define requirements for projects and request
• Demonstrable experience in leading the direction, development and implementation of software solutions
• Capable of leading research into application development issues to successful completion
