Responsible for all aspects of operations, scheduling and data control functions in support of the mainframe platform.

  • Proactively monitor the mainframe system console activities and operations. Ensure the availability of production systems at their scheduled times and that all SLA’s are met.
  • Take corrective actions for operational incidents and problems. Escalate system hardware and software events, space issues and performance issues to appropriate support teams for support and problem resolutions.
  • Process scheduling changes requests, on demand job run requests and CA-7 job restart requests made by the application development and production support teams.
  • Create and monitor incident tickets using Sales-Force Remedy system. Route tickets to proper support teams.
  • Perform production elevates for application code changes including CICS new copy and DB2 BINDs..
  • Maintain standard operating procedures related to operations, scheduling and data control functions.
  • Provide 24/7 off hour on call support for critical systems incidents as part of a collaborative team of system administrators/engineers in a lights out operation.
  • Assist in producing operations metrics for management review.
  • Participate in evening and weekend support of planned changes such as application releases, system maintenance and emergency changes.

The candidate will be required to work a 2nd or 3rd shift.

This is a remote work from home job with an office based at New York City.

Education
Associate Degree or High School graduate with ten years equivalent Mainframe Operations experience or 3 years’ experience on CA-7 Job Scheduler.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of z/OS, MVS JES2, TSO/ISPF, CA-71 & CA-11.
  • Strong technical knowledge in operations process, protocols and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Some knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) required.
  • Some knowledge of CA-1.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word / Excel.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
