Mainframe Developer of Human Resource (HR) Applications

Job Brief

The HR mainframe Developer works directly with Human Resource and Payroll end-users across SRP to resolve business challenges by designing and building enhancements for a custom HRMS application. As part of a small team of HR mainframe developers within a larger support organization, collaboration and communication skills are essential.

Job Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues, identify and build solutions for break fix and long term improvement.
  • Analyze new business requirements in order to develop technical estimates and solutions.
  • Collaborate with analysts to build functional designs for approved enhancements.
  • Configure and Develop HR solutions based on industry and development best practices.
  • Perform application testing and support user acceptance testing as well as production validation.
  • Create and maintain documentation for specifications, testing, change management and run support.
  • Work effectively with team members to divide up work and then build solutions as a team.
  • Callout and daytime support for mainframe HR and Payroll applications and environments.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three-years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Additional Information

  • Requires 5 or more years of mainframe development with TSO, ISPF, COBOL, CICS, DB2
  • Excellent working knowledge of IBM Tools and Utilities (File-Aid, Xpediter, DFSORT)
  • Knowledge of BMC Control-M and IBM SCLM is helpful
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or SuccessFactors is helpful
  • Ability to understand the technical details and communicate the essentials at a high level
  • Experience in providing solutions to large scale projects with the ability to formulate and express ideas clearly and effectively in verbal and written presentations
  • Ability to translate complex business issues into achievable objectives and actionable designs and communicate them to both peers and upper management
