STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Receives, sorts and delivers mail; operates postage meter; keeps records of postage charges; delivers mail to satellite campuses daily; runs high volume copy machines and performs binding and finishing work; performs related work as required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to Buyer.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: May supervise part-time clerical staff and work study students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mailroom

Assists in receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail; delivers mail, packages and other items to offices and departments and collects outgoing mail; weighs outgoing mail and sorts according to class for postage, seals and ties mail as necessary; operates postage meter for some mail and affixes stamps by hand to remainder; maintains daily recordkeeping of postage used and the number of pieces of mail handled for each department or office and places charges to proper account; takes mail bags and parcel post to U. S. Post Office; fills stamp requisitions from departments and offices; cleans scales, mailing room and postage meter; handles mail business for Fall River, Attleboro, New Bedford, and Taunton campuses and other locations as needed; and transports materials and equipment to other locations on campus and between campuses as needed.

Copy Center

Operates high volume duplicating equipment, performs associated copying tasks such as but not limited to binding and finishing work; uses paper cutter, hole driller, bindery equipment, tape machine, stackers, electric stapler and scales in completion of various jobs requested; provides customer service; tracks and records printing projects; maintains records for management reports and inventories of supplies needed; prioritizes copy projects; and clears paper jams and informs technicians of specific problems.

Shipping /Receiving

Assists in receiving incoming packages, examines incoming goods to verify quality, quantity, and condition of goods; maintains records and logs of items received and delivered utilizing shipping/receiving software program; loads and unloads items to and from trucks; issues supplies, materials and equipment to users in accordance with established procedures; takes physical inventory of supplies and equipment to determine actual amounts on hand, reviews and reconciles stock records; places orders to replenish stock; takes physical inventory of supplies and equipment to determine actual amounts on hand, reviews and reconciles stock records; and places orders to replenish stock.

Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have at least one year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work or in work in which the processing of incoming and/or outgoing mail (for example, delivering, sorting, weighing, metering, etc.) was a major duty. Demonstrated competency in basic computer skills and experience with MS Office Suite; possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

Additional Information:

POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, AFSCME Unit I position with benefits. Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, 37.5 hours per week. This position is subject to the 2017 budget appropriation.

SALARY: $671.87 to $902.65 per week. Typically, a new hire can expect to be hired at step one of the labor grade.
