About the Position

The Logistics Coordinator (LC) is a primarily office based staff position responsible for managing the logistics of MCC’s Greater Yellowstone Regional Office. Duties include the management and upkeep of all regional equipment and facilities, as well as providing administrative and operational support to our Youth, Field and Wildland Restoration Programs. The Logistics Coordinator will maintain, repair and track MCC tools, gear and equipment; including chainsaws, hand tools, backcountry gear and vehicles. The LC will work closely with Field Coordinators to ensure crews have appropriate and functioning equipment for the field, and will be the point of contact for crews regarding all gear, tool or vehicle issues. Additional activities will include paperwork management and data entry, facility organization and logistics, and crew support.

Because this is a temporary non-exempt position, it does not qualify for vacation or health insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

Equipment and Facilities Management

Manage and maintain tracking systems and inventory of all tools, gear, vehicles, first aid supplies, etc.

Maintain and repair tools and gear as needed.

Manage and maintain vehicle fleet; coordinate vehicle maintenance.

Serve as point of contact with crews and staff on all equipment issues.

Ensure crews have necessary and functioning equipment to operate effectively in the field.

Manage and maintain systems for facility organization and operations.

Program and Project Support

Provide support and assistance for orientations and end of season trainings for Youth, Field and Wildland Restoration Programming.

Model a culture of professionalism and caring, cultivate safety awareness within crews. Ensure and maintain compliance with MCC policies and safety standards within all crews.

Develop Project Information Sheets to communicate to crews the specific details regarding project work.

Support crews in rig-up and de-rig processes.

Provide supervision and direction to participants while on Light Duty.

Respond to field issues and emergencies as needed, no overnights expected.

Administrative Support

Monitor, track and upload crew paperwork; including Vehicle Checklists, Project Equipment Logs, Incident Reports, and Project Accomplishments.

Assist with data collection and entry of participant and special initiative paperwork.

Manage, track, and train crews on MCC Evaluation processes.

Participate in an on-call schedule.

Qualifications

Minimum age of 21.

Current Wilderness First-Aid/CPR certification required, advanced levels of First-Aid preferred.

Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to work as a team member.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Relevant technical skills including chainsaw use and maintenance, tool re-handling and repair, and other logistics management experience.

Previous conservation corps experience, not necessary but preferred.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly and use hand and power tools.

Valid driver’s license, ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Ability to pass a Criminal History Check.
