Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses.

This position will be a senior member of the dedicated syndication team for WFCF, and will be responsible for originating, structuring, and distributing syndicated asset-based credit facilities for corporate and sponsor-backed transactions, both on a best-efforts and underwritten basis. As many of these transactions may involve significant interaction with Wells Fargo Securities (WFS) teams responsible for concurrent issuance of bond and institutional term loan financings, this position will also be accountable for the successful coordination and integration of these financings.
This role encompasses a variety of activities including:

  • Leadership: Team member must exhibit and develop in others, strong communication skills, confidence and willingness to embrace change. Must also demonstrate strong character and work ethic with sound credit and technical skills. Ability to lead and coordinate deal teams across Wells Fargo in originating, structuring, and execution of transactions including providing guidance and input on the preparation of customized marketing and distribution materials, legal documentation and a successful closing. Involved in efforts to recruit, develop and retain team members.
  • Client Impact: Team member will be integral in developing and maintaining relationships with important corporate and private equity clients at senior levels. Demonstrated ability to provide value-added ideas and solutions to win and retain business, professionally handle conflict, and seek win-win solutions.
  • Partnership: Team member will serve as a liaison for Wells Fargo Capital Finance at both a senior and deal team level with partners in WFS, Corporate Banking, Middle Market Banking, and across WFCF. Will have primary syndications coverage for specific industry sectors and/or geographic regions and be tasked with providing proactive and innovative advice on current market conditions and potential structuring alternatives to clients and deal teams.
  • Decision Making: Exercises thoughtful, well-informed and timely decisions even with limited information in a high-pressure environment. Uses sound credit and markets judgment to evaluate transactions, in particular when to take, and how to best execute on distribution risk.
  • Communication and Influence: Has a strong personal presence and confidence in presenting to large groups. Skilled at simplifying and communicating complicated matters in a manner that is easily understood. Calls upon strong technical skills, personal capabilities, and credibility to influence outcomes.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify issues early and generates actionable alternatives. Ability to determine accuracy and relevance of information, while leveraging superior structuring skills across a wide range of markets to propose and evaluate multiple alternative solutions.
  • Market Knowledge: Team member will have, or develop, a strong understanding of the asset-based universe and competitive dynamics. He or she is expected to maintain a working knowledge of current events in the debt and equity markets, specifically focused on the loan and high yield markets and the economic trends that influence such. Identify and communicate new market trends in structure, documentation, pricing, or competitive activity across business lines.
  • Risk Management: Team member will demonstrate strong ethical character and have a deep understanding of and compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines applicable to products, activities and markets.

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: loan syndication, capital markets, or relationship management

  • History of actively engaging with C-suite executives
  • Proven experience in leading the execution of broadly syndicated credit facilities
  • In-depth knowledge of legal documentation and leading negotiations for syndicated corporate credit facilities
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate lending, leveraged cash flow underwriting, capital markets, and the credit practices and associated risks
  • MBA degree and Series 79 a plus
