Linux Systems Administrator

Swanson Health Products is seeking out an experienced professional for our MIS team in Fargo, ND. Ideal candidates will have experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Cisco Network equipment, processing security scans such as Nessus, Chef and Splunk.

Linux Systems Administrator

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by providing quick, accurate, and thorough responses to our end users.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Linux systems.
  • Test and implement OS and application patches as well as new application deployments.
  • Setup and maintain all Linux user accounts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, or connectivity issues as they occur. Work with vendors, end users, and other technical staff to resolve advanced software, hardware, or connectivity issues.
  • Monitor system performance and make corrections as needed.
  • Run necessary backup systems.
  • Act as a point of contact for incident responses to security and or outage events and provide detailed reports of each incident.
  • May work on a project team as a participant or responsible for portion of work or project.
  • Assist Linux Systems Engineer in testing, and deploying environments, and architectures.
  • Performs equipment exchange, software/hardware installation, program updates, and recording inventory controls of equipment and licenses.
  • Respond to alerts during business hours and afterhours of potential website performance issues.
  • Self manage workload to ensure deadlines and goals are met while proactively keeping others informed of status updates and changes as needed.
  • Train users on supported software and hardware with understanding of technology from a user perspective as well as technical perspective.
  • Assist departmental management with development of systems standards, short and long-term goals, project management, and strategic directions. Participate in team meetings providing input and suggestions.
  • Keep current on new developments and techniques in information technology. Maintain an adequate level of knowledge of operating system and application software being used to provide high levels of support to users.
  • Assist with department functions in an on call capacity as needed.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Conducts self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of SHP.

    • Ability to stay current by adapting to new system technology

    Education and Experience Required : A relevant technology degree or a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in a similar environment. Or; an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties of the job as listed above.
