Linux Administrator

Consultants local to Bay Area will only be considered!!!

SME on linux administration interoperating with windows AD environment, this position is part of the Operations team and will work closely with SME Network, Database/storage, and Windows system engineers to design, deploy and maintain development and production linux infrastructures.

• Installs, configures, and deploys Redhat servers and prepares/maintains SOPs
• Provides support for various open source applications such as Hadoop, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB
• Develops scripts to automate routine tasks
• Monitors and administers Linux/Windows servers and network systems, keeping system information up-to-date
• Participates in the planning and design of Engineering infrastructure projects
• Management of virtualization technologies, VMware or KVM
• Acts as secondary point of contact for Windows and VCenter administration including but not limited to DNS/User administration/Certificate requests
• Troubleshoots and repairs system and network issues
• Provides off-hours support for critical applications

• B.S in Computer Science or related technical major
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in linux system administration
• Experience with amazon web services (AWS) or applicable hosted cloud provider
• Experience with the configuration and maintenance of LDAP or Identity Management in a multi-site environment
• Experience with NAS/SAN storage, blade server technology
• Expert level knowledge with vmware or KVM hypervisors
• Expert level knowledge with networking protocols such as: TCP/IP, DNS, Bind, DHCP, PKI, Samba
• Extensive experience with Redhat Satellite
• Experience with implementation of Identity Management with Microsoft AD, LDAP
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in configuration and maintenance of common web based applications such as Apache, Java based application Server architectures (Tomcat/Weblogic), IIS
• Experience with database systems (MySQL and/or SQL Server)
• Experience with Enterprise monitoring tools like Nagios, Cacti
• Experience with scripting: powershell, pearl, and/or python
• Extensive experience with configuration management and automation
• Experience using SIEM / log management tools such as Splunk, ElasticSearch
• Experience working with load balancing technologies and web server farms
• Self-motivated and constantly looking for continuous improvement of process and technologies
• Exceptional organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to work efficiently/effectively in a fast-paced environment, under stress and within time constraints
• Demonstrated ability to stay up-to-date on current technologies and recent developments in relevant technologies, and to evaluate new technologies as seen fit

• Physical ability to work with rack mounted equipment in a production data center environment
