Summary of Duties

Works on behalf of the Technology Commercialization unit within the Corporate Engagement Office (TCO) and various colleges within the university facilitating the advancement of inventions into intellectual property assets and the transfer of those assets through licensing into the commercial realm. Technology Commercialization is seeking a Licensing Analyst that will be primarily responsible for innovations developed in the life sciences. Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Licensing, the Licensing Analyst will: Assist the licensing team in reviewing and analyzing invention disclosures for patentability, marketability, technical merit and commercial potential; Make recommendations for technology investment decisions portfolio; Develop and implement invention marketing plans and develop marketing material (e.g. non-confidential summaries) for business development activities; Conduct patent searches to understand prior art and potential white space landscape; Identify potential licensees for OSU technologies; Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Licensing.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in life or biomedical science; positive attitude; resourcefulness; strong oral and written communication skills; strong organizational abilities; deadline and detail oriented; willingness to learn university technology commercialization; ability to work independently.

Desired Qualifications

Two years of full-time related work experience; Ph.D. in life or biomedical sciences; Working knowledge of intellectual property; Experience working in a university environment.

Target Salary $55,000.00 – $65,000.00 Annually
