Legislative Internship – Non Paid

Legislative Internship (Oklahoma, Kansas and Nationally)

Trust Women opens clinics that provide abortion care in underserved communities so that all women can make their own decisions about their health care. Internships for Trust Women provide the opportunity to see how each component of the organization works together; those who work for Trust Women wear many hats and assist each other as needed.

We are seeking motivated, take-charge interns with a passion for reproductive justice and an openness to learning. To become a Trust Women intern, applicants must be hard-working and dedicated. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to make a lasting impact with an organization making historical gains in an area of the country in need of innovative and adventurous activism. Class credit is available. On-site and virtual internships available.

Duties:

• Attend important legislative votes and hearings as schedule permits
• Update list of legislators and position on choice; track choice-related legislation
• Assist Trust Women lobbyist as necessary
• Assist with crafting Trust Women testimony to be presented at committee hearings
• Participate in coalition calls and meetings

Requirements:

• Knowledge of and experience with state government, particularly the legislative process
• Ability to read and summarize bills, navigate legislative websites
• Ability to attend important votes and hearings
• Strong written and spoken communication skills
• Able to work on multiple projects at a time
• Ability to meet deadlines and new challenges as they arise
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products

Preference will be given to candidates with political science or legal education or training
