Lead Web Developer/Engineer

Start Date: Immediately.

Description:

The Program is looking for a Lead Web Developer/Engineer to join our Portland, Oregon agency. The right person will have advanced experience across a wide variety of applications and hardware. If you are passionate about innovation and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you. We build and maintain a wide range of projects, from global marketing campaign experiences to high volume applications for large multinational companies. Additionally, emerging technologies of all kinds are frequently in play.

Are you interested in exploring the best of modern web development? Are you endlessly curious yet able to strike a balance between new territory and well established best-practices in programming? Our goal at The Program is to be as technology agnostic as possible while every day honing our craft. If you have deep experience with Ruby, PHP, or Python, we want to know you. If you love JavaScript—warts and all—have opinions about SQL or NoSQL, OOP vs Functional programming—we welcome your enthusiasm and we’d love to talk to you.

Required Technologies:

  • Solid JavaScript knowledge
  • Experience with OOP and Functional Programming paradigms
  • Comfort with React and tools like D3.js
  • Solid experience with NodeJS and front-end compilation tools such as Webpack or Browserify
  • Ruby and/or PHP knowledge
  • CSS/Sass experience and a desire to solve layout challenges and optimize user experience
  • Comfort with database administration and schema design
  • Deployment experience – CI, deployment and provisioning tools such as Ansible, Capistrano, Jenkins
  • Solid Git workflow

Responsibilities:

  • Take technical ownership of projects, delivering complex, digital solutions
  • Approach work using best practices and test-driven techniques to deliver quality products
  • Collaborate with team members an agile, fast paced environment
  • Lend advice and leadership to engineering team members
  • Provide recommendations and insight, while remaining positive, open and flexible

Qualifications:

  • 4+ Years of relevant, agency experience
  • Comfortable working in both front and back end projects
  • Passionate about remaining ahead of the technological curve
  • Understands refactoring and agile testing methodologies
  • Experimentation with other languages and technologies a plus (Clojure, Go, Swift, Java, Unity/C, Voice UI’s, etc..)

Details:

This is an in-house position working from our studio in SE Portland. Salary is competitive based on experience. The Program provides a competitive benefit package that includes paid holidays, vacation/personal time, 401k matching and health/dental/vision insurance. Relocation package available if applicable.
