Job Details:

The Lead, Business Analyst leads projects and serves as a liaison between the business units, the IT organization and support/control groups, in order to recommend and document requirements for systems and operational solutions to meet user needs. For external projects, serves as a liaison between the external business customers – exchanges, members & vendors – and OCC’s internal organizations, in order to recommend and document requirements for systems technical and procedural solutions. Possesses expertise in business partner’s processes. Supports all phases of project development life cycle from requirements gathering, through design & development, testing and implementation. The Lead Business Analyst will be involved in the role of instructing, directing, and checking the work of other analysts.

  • Leads projects and provides oversight for junior level members.
  • Acts with increasing autonomy and is expected to display significant business insight, OCC and industry knowledge and communication finesse in achieving results.
  • Will represent OCC externally.
  • With autonomy, analyzes business partners operations to understand processes and functions in order to recommend integrated clearing solutions.
  • Assists in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology, procedures and products.
  • Documents and translates high-level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and business operation units. Manages changes to such specifications.
  • Educates IT and business unit organizations on the direction of the business.
  • Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business units, legal/support/control functions and IT from initial requirements to final implementation.
  • Possesses an understanding of technological trends and uses this knowledge to bring solutions to business units supported to enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge.
  • Assists QA functions, including assistance or generation of test plans and test cases, and test results verification.
  • Provide expertise in business/data analysis to drive business process change where necessary
  • Acts as a mentor to Analysts, transferring application business, systems and industry knowledge
  • Assists with departments and new employee training/cross training activities.
  • Develop and understand SQL (at times complex) in order to provide a thorough analysis of business logic and function.
  • Maintains technical understanding of current system and business processes.

Qualifications/Technical Skills/Education:

  • Broad based knowledge of the lifecycle development, analytical business modeling, change control management, test planning management, and risk analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral, analytical abilities, sound judgment and time management skills, and the ability to work effectively with users, management and staff.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter with creative problem solving skills.
  • Able to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Able to handle multiple project tasks simultaneously

  • Experience with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Exposure to Client server and mainframe business application systems (Unix, NT, IBM, etc.)
  • Exposure to scheduling packages, processes and concepts (UC4, CA7, Jobs, Jobplans, tasks)
  • Database experience (i.e. Informix, Sybase, SQL Server, DB2).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Finance or related field.
  • Masters degree a plus
  • At least 10 years of experience in business/systems analysis.
  • Clearing, trading, finance and/or back office knowledge required
