Junior Software Developer

With the expected growth of Micfo’s Geo-Location Cloud Platform over the next few years we will be facing new and exciting challenges. Due to the sheer size and scope of Micfo’s datacenter operations – and the devices that occupy them – there is no such thing as a simple, off-the-shelf solution capable of managing our global network. The mission of our team is to build the tools that make it possible to plan, deploy, monitor and manage the datacenters, networks and machines that power every Micfo product and service.

As a member of this small and growing team, you will be in charge of designing and implementing how we build, model, analyze and monitor Micfo’s current and next generation networks. In addition to software development, your duties may involve evaluating third party and open source software, interacting with various other engineering teams and working with network hardware vendors. There is a wide range of areas to work on, spanning next-gen datacenter networking architecture (e.g., OpenFlow or similar technologies for software defined networking), software systems to configure, monitor, analyze, model, and manage our datacenter, backbone, and content delivery networks (CDN).

This is a full-time position based in our Charleston, SC office.

Responsibilities :
You will be responsible for providing software solutions to manage the growth of Micfo networks. You build and organize services, schema, inputs, and design that will need to span the globe. You are also responsible for building tools and services that create and manipulate large and complex network models representing our production networks.

Develop various software to scale the Micfo production network

Implement, deploy and integrate software into Micfo’s production network including CDN and SDN Networks

Provide well designed APIs and tools to the networking organization for operating and expressing network topologies in the model

Work with product managers, designers, and other engineers to seamlessly integrate Micfo’s products and services into our customers’ portal, CMS and backend systems

Work at multiple layers of the application, both front-end and back-end

Build application backend services using Python, Javascript, and Java frameworks and persistence layers

Collaborate with Network Engineering team to automate various processes, build software infrastructure for network monitoring and analysis, aid in capacity planning and architecture change analysis

Qualifications and Skills :
Must be comfortable developing in Linux environments

Must have good design, programming, and debugging skills

Must be proficient in multi-threading programing

Must be proficient in Java/C++ and in scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, Ruby)

Must be familiar with Web server technology and REST API’s

Willing to work with network devices (routers, switches, load balancers) and develop an understanding of network routing protocols

Must learn apache and web related programs with regards to datacenters and websites

Learn about the design and implementation of network management systems

Must be a quick learner for cutting edge technologies

Must have experience with infrastructure automation, orchestration

A passion for writing high-quality, well-architected and well-documented code

Knowledge of virtual infrastructure administration (VMware VCO, VCD, ESX, vSphere, NSX)

Strong knowledge in data stores (MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, RedShift, etc.) and data access patterns and strategies.

Service-oriented architecture, event-driven architecture

Experience with architecting, designing and coordinate implementation of virtualization enhancements to improve the reliability and performance of the system
