Junior Software Developer

Adaptivestack Technologies Inc. is looking for a talented Junior Software Developer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

At Adaptivestack Technologies, a Junior Software Developer must be able to create logical and functional software code in a variety of languages. Must have experience in understanding and articulating the benefits and risks associated with different coding languages in different functional environments. Must have experience reacting to problems and correcting the program as necessary.

A Junior Software Developer designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements software programming applications/operating systems. Also, coordinates with Agile work teams. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. May report to an executive or a manager.

This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in area of specialty. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education. The candidate must demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures. In addition to this effort, they are required to provide consultation on complex projects and may be considered to be the top level contributor/specialist.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile Methodologies, such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Scrum/Kanban/XP.
  • Agile principles such as Continuous Integration (CI), Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Delivery (CD) and DevOps.
  • Linux / Unix / Windows
  • .Net Framework
  • ASP.Net
  • Dev Express
  • Javascript / HTML5
  • NHibernate
  • Technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience. Strong data analysis skills.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite required, including MS Visio.
  • Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology.
  • Ability to adapt well to diverse environments.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels in an organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in dynamic team environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008
  • Modern programming languages such as Java, C#, .NET, JavaScript, Ruby and Python
  • Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, MS Access
  • IBM Rational Tool Suite including Rational Team Concert (RTC), Rational DOORS Next Generation (RDNG), Rational Quality Manager (RQM)
  • Agile certification(s) such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Agilists (SA) or SAFe Practitioner. (SP), SAFe Advanced Scrum Masters (SASM), and SAFe Professional Consultants (SPC)
  • Experience supporting Federal clients
  • Preference will be given to those individuals where their primary residency is located in a qualified HUBZone (http://map.sba.gov/hubzone/maps/)
