        About the Opportunity:

        DMI is currently seeking to hire a Junior Software Developer – Java to support development and maintenance efforts for a Federal Government customer in the Denver metro area (Lakewood, CO). The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting operational and enhancement activities for major operational systems.

        Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. In this position, you will work closely with business analysts, QAs, DBAs, and other developers who share a common goal: delivering highly reliable and maintainable systems to the federal government client.

        Duties and Responsibilities :

        • Design, develop, enhance, debug, and implement software. Troubleshoot production problems related to software applications.
        • Address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
        • Perform feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
        • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
        • Resolve problems with software and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
        • Working with an agile development methodology.
        • Database programming using SQL queries and stored procedures
        • Experience with Java, Spring and Hibernate frameworks
        • Understanding of web services – SOAP and REST
        • Ability to clearly communicate and document

        Qualifications:
        Education and Years of Experience:

        • Computer Science Degree

        Desired Skills/Certifications:

        • Exposure to Agile methodology at a Federal Agency.
        • Knowledge of Angular JS, Ajax, JIRA, Spring, Hybernate. HTML 5

We are looking for a Java developer responsible for building Java applications. This includes anything between complex groups of back-end services and their client-end (desktop and mobile) counterparts. Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop these applications, and to coordinate with the rest of the team working on different layers of the infrastructure. Thus, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and product quality is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java code
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization

Skills

  • Proficient in Java, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns
  • Skill for writing reusable Java libraries
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns in Java
  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, JDBC, and RESTful
  • Experience with popular web application frameworks, such as Play and Spark
  • Knack for writing clean, readable Java code
  • Experience with both external and embedded databases
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Basic understanding of the class loading mechanism in Java
  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
  • Basic understanding of JVM, its limitations, weaknesses, and workarounds
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
  • Familiarity with build tools such as Ant, Maven, and Gradle
  • Familiarity with continuous integration
