Junior Designer

Job Summary :

    • As a junior designer for Woodcrafters Home Products you will translate your ideas into tangible products for the home center market. You will conduct research on global design trends as well as the furniture and cabinet market in North America. This position will require you to create concepts and designs that meet our clients’ needs as well as our production capabilities. You will participate in each step of the design process, working closely with the R&D and Sales teams.

      Organizational Relationship :

      Position reports directly to Design Manager and supports our WoodCrafters division based in Weslaco, TX.

      Duties and Responsibilities :

      • Design and Trend research
      • Sketching
      • 3D product modeling and visualization
      • Photorealistic rendering of products for presentation
      • Creation of 2D pre-engineer drawings for prototype construction
      • Creation of graphics and illustrations for product presentations
      • Work with R&D team and manufacturing plants to ensure prototypes are done in time, according to design and expectations are met
      • Develop clear presentations with power point or other media
      • Work with current and new vendors to outsource components and materials needed for projects.
      • Must display an eagerness to learn and a willingness to accept constructive criticism, and thrive in a collaborative environment.

      Qualifications :

      • Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design or related field.
      • 0-2 years of experience in Product Design or related field.
      • Ability to communicate product concepts verbally and in written form.
      • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team under tight time-lines on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast paced and entrepreneurial environment
      • Good understanding of trends and market
      • Good understanding of materials
      • Good understanding of furniture/cabinet design, construction and manufacturing.
      • Proficiency in Solid Works or equivalent 3D CAD software
      • Proficiency in Rhino or equivalent 3D modeling software
      • Advanced 3D rendering techniques
      • Advanced knowledge in 2D design program: Illustrator and Photoshop.
      • Experience with 3D printing is a plus
      • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power-Point, Outlook
