Job Purpose

Facilitate the Bank’s offering to clients in facilitating their importation of goods from order to eventual delivery including required payments, forex etc using the Trade Suite proposition.

Act as an outsourced arm of the client’s business as his logistics partner/expert, understand his total business – ordering cycle, logistics needs, materials planning etc and apply this knowledge to deliver exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Understand Client’s Business requirements

  • Meets with Client to understand their business and import requirements including the ordering cycle, logistics needs, materials and shipping information.
  • Prepare and present an estimated landed cost demo to the Client
  • Applies logistics and trade finance principles and practices to the client’s requirements to develop a logistics plan for them.
  • Define Logistics Solution for the Client

  • Define the logistics with regards to orders, routing, on vessel, and clearing payments
  • Estimate landed costs and trade finance
  • Organise Letters of Credit, advance payments, and supplier payment terms.
  • Negotiate rates with Service Providers
  • Deliver and support the logistics solution
  • Liaises with Logistics Service providers on shipments, routes, vessels, clearing, costs
  • Tracks and communicates with Client’s during the shipping process on progress and any risks and challenges.
  • Liaises with Foreign agents to ensure that instructions are clear and shipment details are on track as planned
  • Ensures that all the correct documentation is available, and payments are made for Customs clearance.
  • Ensure preparation and completion of all trade finance documents, e.g. Letters of Credit, Advance Payment, Supplier payment terms.
  • Prepares all instructions correspondence as per estimates.

  • Logistics Planning

  • Plan shipping routes and back-up routes for shipping
  • Plans logistics re number of containers per month, per client
  • Estimates cost comparisons for different shipping providers and routes for the client.

  • Manage Risks

    Identify and mitigate risks relating to:

  • Ships being late due to weather conditions which results in rework of shipping routes, possible costs and Trade finance
  • Communication of risks and costs to client
  • Incorrect documentation e.g. packing list and bills of loading match
  • Check that suppliers and vessels are not on the sanctions list and make decisions on whether to use them or not.
  • Should a vessel already be on the way when sanctions are applied to it, refer to legal and TMU to mitigate any legal risks that may arise

  • Preferred Qualification and Experience

    Qualification:

    Minimum : Completed Secondary School/ High School/ A levels/ Matric

    Pereferred: First Degree/ Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management

    Experience:

    Global Markets: Trade Finance (1-3years)
    Business Support: Logistics & Supply Chain Management (1-3years)

    Knowledge/Technical Skills/Expertise
