Junior Audio Engineer

This position is based in Los Angeles and reports to the Production Manager. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starting individual who can work independently as well as within an established team.

The Junior Audio Engineer will provide start-to-finish audio engineering services in order to create and deliver audio materials and deliverables for Broadcast, Multimedia and DVD clients.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the quality of client media to make sure they meet the correct specifications by performing quality control checks of received assets.
  • Creates Pro Tools sessions for all incoming work materials using the SDI prescribed workflows and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects reported issues with source assets and previous delivered work to client.
  • Prepares and delivers audio files according to correct procedures adapting workflows to new procedures as needed.
  • Follows a QC procedure to evaluate and report on the various elements of any given project to ensure it meets client standards.
  • Completes a QC checklist form per client standards noting areas of media to be reviewed again.
  • Provides checklist of what was found to Mix Scheduler so corrections can be made by the recording studio or audio mixing engineer.
  • Communicates frequently with the delivery team and other departments keeping them apprised of the project status.
  • Documents internal processes for consistency and efficiency.
  • Suggests improvements to workflows, tests new software, and assists with the creation of rendering profiles.
  • Understands and stays current with all SDI workflows, workflow change management updates and tutorials.
  • Perform general administration duties as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours when and if needed.

Must be able to demonstrate:

  • Highly developed Pro Tools skills, including a strong background and understanding of audio post production and file management and organization.
  • Understanding of Post Production/Dubbing workflows, formats and requirements.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work under pressure.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 2 years’ experience in Audio Engineering (Recording, Editing and/or Mixing)
  • Degree in Audio Post-Production or related field desired
  • Experience with Mac environment, ProTools audio hardware, software and plug-ins
