$59,428.32 – $75,860.76 Annually

Continuation of court operations is considered essential for our constitutional form of government for providing due process and protecting the public. All Court employees are considered essential employees because they are needed to deliver the statutorily mandated, time-sensitive and emergency services in times of local, state and national emergencies.

ABOUT THE COURT

Los Angeles Superior Court is seeking dynamic, well-qualified, and highly-motivated individuals to fill the position of Judicial and Administrative Support II.

Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States with nearly 600 courtrooms presided over by 550 bench officers and 4,500 full-time employees. The Court has 38 Court locations, serving 88 cities and 118 law enforcement agencies countywide.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Judicial and Administrative Support II is responsible for supporting a Supervising District Judge, Supervising Judicial Officer in Juvenile, Judicial Officers at an assigned location, and/or Senior Administrator, Deputy Director, or other equivalent senior-level manager over an operation that covers a district, or which has multiple major functions, by performing difficult administrative support duties (e.g., duties which involve researching and providing options to resolve administrative and organizational problems of moderate scope and impact). In addition, incumbents are expected to exercise care and discretion in the handling of highly-sensitive and confidential information.

This includes offering new remote technology options for court users that promote social distancing by both reducing the number of people appearing in person and allowing for more telework opportunities for employees. Required use of face coverings by all judicial officers, employees and all Court visitors, with limited permissible exceptions | Managed social distancing with signs, floor, wall and seating markings inside and outside courthouses | Work with Sheriff’s Deputies to help manage social distancing requirements | Hand sanitizer and wipes offered at entrances, inside courtrooms and other high traffic areas | Enhanced disinfection and cleaning of courthouse facilities, including disinfectant cleaning of many areas twice daily in areas such as courtrooms, Clerk’s Office, and all high- traffic areas, such as hand rails, door handles and knobs, elevator areas and buttons, and escalators

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify, you must meet one (1) of the following options at the time of filing:

Option I: 60 semester (90 quarter) units from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

Option II: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid California Class C driver’s license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

EDUCATION VERIFICATION for Option I: To receive credit, a legible copy of your coursework / transcript or diploma (unofficial is acceptable) with the name of the accredited college or university and must be submitted within 10 business days from application submission.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of clerical and administrative support practices and procedures, including filing and record keeping.

Knowledge of Court organization, functions, rules, policies and procedures applicable to assigned areas of responsibility.

Advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other standard software to create complex documents and materials requiring the interpretation and manipulation of data.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to organize, set priorities, and exercise sound judgment within areas of responsibility.

Strong interpersonal skills.

RECRUITMENT INFORMATION:
Part I: Qualifying evaluation of education, training, and experience based upon submitted application materials and supplemental questionnaire. The applicants with the highest qualifications as determined by this evaluation process will be invited to participate in the examination process.

Part II: Online examination, weighted 100%, covering typing skills, conscientiousness, composure, drive for success, professional potential, customer focus, Microsoft Office 2010 fundamentals, and business writing.
