Jr Full Stack Developer

Position Summary

The Jr. Full Stack Developer will perform the duties of Production Operations (ProdOps) Engineer, and understands the Application Maintenance and Production Support needs of the client. The Developer is hands-on and will be challenged to design and implement Continuous Improvement in the ProdOps environment. The candidate will be part of the Production Excellence team and need to have a solid understanding of Operations Management practices and procedures. This resource will participate in the rollout of DevOps technologies and processes. Developer will need to work as an independent resource, interacting directly with management and helping rollout updated processes and tools. Candidates should be highly motivated and excellent team players, able to work autonomously, demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define and rollout updated Production Operations processes, technologies and service
  • Work closely with Development teams to capture and document Application Maintenance and support procedures
  • Work with DevOps lead to implement Production Operations best practices
  • Responsible for Infrastructure Operations and management of environments with emphasis on Puppet
  • Responsible for Application Development and multiple coding and scripting languages with focus on .Net and HTML
  • Participate in DevOps and ProdOps tool configuration, working with DevOps and ALM tools like Puppet, JIRA, Jenkins, and Release Automation
  • Understand the deployment requirements for all applications and production environments
  • Capture Application Monitoring requirements and enable Production and Proactive Monitoring solutions
  • Work with Release Manager on pushing code deployment to production
  • May provide build management and execution support
  • Serve as first point of contact or Tier-1 support for production calls
  • Address production issues from the Service Desk tool (i.e. JIRA, Kace) and encourage business users to report and document production issues
  • Triage production problem reports and refer to Development teams if necessary
  • Fix minor application issues and dynamic content problems logged by Customers and Business users
  • Document fixes and procedures related to Prod/Ops support
  • Add to the documentation as new incident procedures are discovered and implemented
  • Refer frequently occurring incidents to Developers for Problem resolution

Experience

  • Experience with implementing ITIL and CMMI methodologies a strong plus
  • Prior experience with Infrastructure Operations and management of environments
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and working with ALMs and Build and Release automated tools.
  • Experience automating production deployment and support process
  • Experience with design and implementation of Deployment automation
  • Experience with Infrastructure Operations and management of environments with emphasis on Puppet
  • Experience with managing production websites
  • Experience engineering solutions and developing best practices.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures and processes
  • 5+ years background in IT (preferably in ProdOps and DevOps).
  • Solid understanding of Application Release engineering and application lifecycle process management.
  • Advanced knowledge of application architectures (web, client-server, and mobile) and application monitoring techniques and approaches
  • Knowledge of Application Development and multiple coding and scripting languages with focus on .Net and HTML
  • Strong knowledge of Software Configuration Management (build/deployment) concepts
  • Knowledge of Operating Systems and Troubleshooting with focus on Windows OS
  • Knowledge of Virtualization Technologies with focus on VSphere, VMWare
  • Broad knowledge of ProdOps and DevOps tools including, JIRA, TFS, and Service Desk
  • Capable of enforcing processes and procedures
  • Ability to gather incident information and accurately represent it to the Development team.
  • Ability to document issues and remedies/solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
  • Strong desire to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes and capable of enforcing processes and procedures
  • Internally motivated, enterprising, able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
