Java Developer – ITS4

This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last up to two (2) years.

As a Java Developer you will be responsible for providing advanced level technical expertise in the design and development of Minnesota IT at the Department of Human Services (DHS) applications by utilizing Java programming skills and the effective use of Object Oriented technologies and tools.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume.

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience of senior developer level knowledge of Java and supporting software tools and migration and version control systems. Requires working knowledge and experience with the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including ability to code to design specifications and unit test middleware and front-facing Java applications. Senior Java developer level experience with Spring (or similar), MVC Framework, Web Service creation and client applications, and data frameworks such as Hibernate is required.

A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for three years of experience, or a related Bachelor’s degree substitutes for two years, or a related Associate’s substitutes for one year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A high degree of creative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of developing programs of the highest level of complexity.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of methods and techniques of systems analysis, design and development.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of providing operations and production support for Java applications.
  • Ability to mentor less seasoned practitioners.
  • Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to plan complicated efforts and communicate status as work progresses.
