Java Developer

U.S. Bank is seeking an Application Developer with design and development experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. Participates in the technical design of application systems. Develops and implements application systems. Assists in definition of time tables and project tasks; analyzes and estimates cost and time. Performs change impact analysis tasks. Creates comprehensive unit test plans and test cases. Participates in design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of solutions. Creates and executes performance tests to ensure that expected application performance levels are achieved. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and modifies computer programs of moderate complexity, significance, and risk. Contributes and at times, leads clients and technical staff to investigate, analyze, and resolve technical problems related to system functions, programming, and procedures. Joins in post-implementation reviews of both application development content and process to maximize and share learning. Shares in monitoring operating efficiency of existing systems. Writes documentation that describes installation and operating procedures.

This is primarily a Java development role on a high profile, high volume customer facing application. The ideal candidate would be equally comfortable in the code, as they are engaging in discussions with business requirements staff, testing staff and project management – Should be conversant and fluent in all aspects and logistics of software development and delivery in a large enterprise.

Basic Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

-At least 5 years experience with developing and implementing applications.

Preferred Skills/Experience

-Core development experience in large scale enterprise Java applications using Spring Framework.

-Excellent programming skills in Core Java.

-Experience and expertise in one or more of the following: MyBatis, Hibernate, Spring Batch & Spring Web Services.

-Supplemental and supporting UI skills: RIA Front End Frameworks (Angular is a plus), responsive CSS, HTML5 apis, ajax, jsp, javascript, jquery and jsp tiles.

– Experience in SQL (DB2 & SQL databases)

-Experience with Unit testing tools like Junit & Selenium ( is a plus).

-Experience with build tools (Maven/Ant is a plus).

– Other required skills include: Eclipse based IDE (RSA/RAD 8.5 preferred), UML, Source Code Management (IBM RTC preferred)

-Familiarity with Agile methodologies (especially Scrum)

-Keen troubleshooting skills.

-Distinct bias towards coding but enough presence to lead and manage critical conversations and communications.
