IT Technician II – 60028029

To support the information technology environment at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Supports an enterprise network consisting of 300 or more workstations, utilizing Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems to provide information resources to members of the SCGSAH community. Installs, configures, and maintains computers, printers, copiers, wireless access points, mobile devices, network cabling, smart televisions and other related equipment, using systems understanding and hardware/software tools. Acts as the first point of contact for technical support in the classrooms. Maintains understanding of PowerSchool (SIS), Schoology (LMS), G Suite for Education (GAFE), SMART Board technologies, ZuluDesk (MDM), Apple School Manager, and other classroom specific hardware equipment. Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications using various hardware, software, and skills to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties to ensure reliability of network services. Recommends purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software using technical knowledge. Provides support services to administration and faculty regarding use of computers and networks to satisfy mission goals. Maintains an inventory of hardware and software for school using knowledge of what constitutes information technology assets in order to catalog resources and assist in determining future needs. Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems by researching databases, knowledge bases, training materials, and meeting regularly with other information technology personnel to maximize use of networks and computing systems. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A high school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas. An associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.

Additional Comments:

Knowledge of network services and data communications. Knowledge of methods of network design and equipment configuration requirements. Knowledge of computer systems analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance techniques. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to work variable hours and shifts, if needed and the job may require on-call duties.
