IT Support Specialist

Job Description – May 2017

Pressman Academy is an innovative and engaging learning environment dedicated to developing minds, nurturing hearts and instilling Jewish values. The IT Specialist works 20 hours/week as IT support in various areas of the school supporting technology usage and integration. The IT Specialist reports directly to the Director of Educational Technology. This is a part-time position for the 2017-2018 school year (8-14-17 through 6-22-18) with a flexible daily and weekly schedule.

The IT Specialist responsibilities include the following:

IT Help Desk

  • Respond to help desk requests in person, by telephone, or email
  • Install, configure, and maintain software, hardware, and related peripherals
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, printing, network, phone and a/v problems.
  • Escalate support issues to Director of Educational Technology as needed
  • Maintain timely and accurate help desk request records using ticketing system
  • Make effective use of help desk request records to identify patterns, systemic

problems, and end- user training needs

  • Perform preventative maintenance on computer systems and other equipment as

needed and assigned

  • Arrange for equipment repair (computers, printers, etc.) as needed
  • Maintain timely and accurate inventory records for all technology hardware and

software using inventory management systems

  • Maintain school A/V materials (green screen, tripods, microphones)
  • Other projects/tasks assigned by department supervisor

School-wide Technology Growth

  • Create miscellaneous media projects for the school as needed
  • Incorporate G Suite for Education when possible
  • Assist in development of school-wide technology mission statement

Professional Growth and Learning

  • Engage in continuous and purposeful professional growth and development
  • Establish a Professional Growth Goal at the beginning of the year and engage in

work to support meeting that goal

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor or Associate degree from accredited college or university OR Previous experience trouble-shooting in an educational institution preferred
  • 1 or more years directly involved in troubleshooting and basic repair of computer and electronic systems, hardware and software
  • Must have proven meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills, good organizational skills and ability to self-direct and problem solve in a fast-paced environment

Skills:

  • Applicant should have experience with Android, Mac and Windows Operating Systems
  • G-Suite experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate with teachers/staff about technology in a friendly,

easy-to-understand manner

  • Ability to find answers to problems by utilizing the internet and/or a professional

learning network

  • Continuous desire to learn about technology and technology in education

Physical Demands:

  • Some lifting (50 lbs) and bending is required
