IT Support Spec (Wage/Hourly)

THIS POSITION IS HOURLY AND IS LIMITED TO 29 HOURS A WEEK AND CANNOT EXCEED1500 HOURS IN A 12- MONTH PERIOD . IT IS NOT ENTITLED TO THE STATE BENEFITS PACKAGE . Seeking individual to be responsible for providing agency specific end user support services and guidance on in-scope end-user support services. Provide problem management, troubleshooting and escalations to resolve customer problems. Work with VITA , NG, Technology Resources and district customers to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner. Provide inventory management for technical equipment inventories and records. Provide planning, coordination and implementation services to support district technology activities and projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience identifying and working with technology assets (computers, peripherals and telecommunication devices). Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows in a Windows environment. Skill in use of Microsoft Word, Excel Outlook and IE. Knowledge of help request tracking and reporting tools. Knowledge of troubleshooting tools, tips and research methods, excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate with customers in lay terms regarding technology needs. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of VDOT’s computer applications and how they operate in a desktop environment. College Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Special Requirements

Valid operator’s license required. Fingerprint, background check, references, work history and DMV records will be verified prior to employment. This position is designated as essential and will be required to work during inclement weather and emergency situations.
