Summary

You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (APPSW/SYSANALYSIS) in the SOFTWARE SUPPORT DIVISION, G-6 of MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS COMMAND.

Responsibilities

  • You will develop APPs for computers, mobile phones, tablets and other designated end-use electronic devices using a range of fourth and fifth-generation programming languages.
  • You will monitor IT development contracts to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • You will plan and coordinate the testing, installation, and implementation of vendor provided IT solutions; and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • You will perform and provide technical guidance and oversight for supporting project team members in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining IT solutions.
  • You will design physical data models that depict the structure for data storage, data indexing, data manipulation, and data retrieval applications.
  • You will ensure data structures meet business and cyber-security requirements, are accessible to authorized users, and provide appropriate mechanism for maintaining data quality, data accuracy and ease of access.
  • You will review preliminary analyses of business processes for which software tools are being developed/refined.
  • You will consult with analyst and/or customers to define and refine functional requirements and translate function requirements into technical design specifications.
  • You will establish troubleshooting procedures; and document solutions to common problems for reference by other specialists.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including being recalled to duty, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.
  • Qualifications

    You resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:

    1. Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Designing, writing, testing, debugging, and maintaining existing applications and/or multi-media software or Mobile Applications (APPS) that meet technical and functions requirements.

    2. Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Consulting with analysts and/or customers to define and refine functional requirements and translating functional requirements into technical design specifications and working with analysts and customers to isolate and solve design problems encountered during testing and implementation stages.

    3. Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Defining and validating the need for proposed new or revised IT solutions through consultation with functional managers and/or business organizations.

    4. Problem Solving – Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Analyzing and translating detailed technical or design specifications into integrated IT solutions that automate business processes, resolve noted deficiencies in operational IT capabilities, and/or address new operational requirements.

    IN ADDITION to your experience demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE MUST DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Planning, designing and coordinating IT solution projects across multiple platforms (i.e. Mobile Applications (Apps), web applications, multi-media devices) that involve systems analysis, software and application development, data modeling, and customer support on all IT-related matters.
