IT Services Specialist III – 60008414

This position is located within the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. Incumbent will serve as the primary helpdesk support person for the Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging. Responds in a timely manner during business hours to issues related to the computing environment. Diagnoses and repairs issues with hardware, software, phones, and networking. Responsible for documenting and tracking issues from inception to resolution. Completes simple to moderately complex projects. Installs, configures, and maintains (including backups) server hardware and software. Researches and procures hardware, software, and supplies. Works with vendors on maintenance agreements and billing. Keeps user documentation, protocols, and procedures related to IT and security up to date. Composes new documentation related to IT and security as needed. Minimal duties as part of the backup group to the front desk phones. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information science, or a related field and at least two years of experience in information technology support in a Microsoft environment, or an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to left, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting Windows 7 and/or 10, as well as supporting Microsoft Office 2010 or above. Experience writing user manuals or procedure documents (for previous employers or as part of university classes). Ability to analyze and convert moderately complex to complex technical instructions to materials that can be understood by non-technical personnel. Experience with using a helpdesk application. Financial/accounting experience preferred (previous employment or college coursework). Ability to self-manage and work independently. Discretion, confidentiality, and ability to follow up are essential.
