IT Regional Field Technician

JOB OBJECTIVE:

  • Support the IT infrastructure for an assigned region to ensure end-user productivity

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)

  • Assist the Field Project Manager and HelpDesk team in researching new products, designing network improvements within the stores, and completing special projects as assigned
  • Analyze systems, techniques, and procedures to determine necessary hardware, software, or system functional specifications
  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, and perform testing activities on various computer equipment, peripherals, data communication, and computer network systems
  • Assemble, install, configure and test computer equipment or units of local area networks requiring use of standard interface protocols
  • Complete work orders such as installing equipment, connecting and moving devices or creating components of autonomous networks, installing disk drives, correcting definitions on data switches, protocol converters, etc.
  • Assist in installation and cabling, user support, backups, and maintenance of documentation
  • Develop and maintain software and hardware inventory lists and tracking systems
  • Order, stock, and store electronic components
  • Ensure server backups and networked user backups are performed on a regular basis
  • Provide support to users relating to both hardware and software problems on their personal computers
  • Perform preventive maintenance for computer, data communication, and/or peripheral equipment; test and adjust to appropriate standards
  • Communicate with end-users to understand their needs; educate/train on applicable hardware or systems to ensure satisfaction
  • Build rapport with end-users to establish trust and respect
  • Demand the highest ethical standards from self and others
  • Demonstrate professionalism including a neat, orderly and safe work environment
  • Maintain regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality
  • Resolve customer complaints
  • Attend applicable training to maintain professional expertise on current and new technologies
  • Seek ways to improve business operations, efficiencies and customer service
  • Support the efforts of other employees to be successful

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • CDK Dealer Services (network and/or hardware) experience
  • Knowledge of Cisco phone systems or IPT experience
  • Basic Windows domain experience
  • Minimum of 2 years extensive PC experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and products
  • Extensive knowledge of general Windows systems/applications
  • Knowledge of installation of PC and network hardware and software
  • Knowledge of network and impact printer systems
  • Knowledge of wireless network equipment
  • Knowledge of CAT5 cabling
  • Knowledge of audio and video equipment
  • Availability to work on-call nights and weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company policy requirements

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • A+ Certification, preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities including under desks, behind desks, on roofs, in tight spaces, etc. as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, or use scissor lifts when applicable, to repair on roofs and other high locations throughout the dealerships
  • Will be exposed to weather conditions present at that time

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work performed in IT office and dealership settings. (1)
