IT – Network Engineer

Under direct guidance from the Network Services Manager this position is a member of a network support team responsible for implementing, supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the enterprise network infrastructure.

Essential Functions:

  • Essential Functions:
    • Creates and maintains network documentation.
    • Proactively identifies performance and operational issues using trending activities and reports.
    • Responsible for maintaining and updating all network devices and communication platforms.
    • Responsible for WAN circuits; managing, supporting, ordering, installation and documentation.
    • Works to resolve all issues in a timely manner.
    • Manages the logging, documenting, and communication of problems and resolutions.
    • Provides reporting that proactively identifies more complex problem areas with trending activities.
    • Performs identification, isolation and resolution of issues with documented solutions.
    • Creates and maintains short and long-term network architecture plans and connectivity strategies.
    • Leads the recovery from a disaster or a major network or system outage.
    • Provides detailed project management documentation for all major network projects and strategic plans.
    • Identifies, evaluates and recommends new network and communication technologies.
    • Follows change management procedures and requirements provided by the organization.
    • Updates network documentation to reflect change.
    • Adheres to Confluence Health’s Employee expectations and Teamwork
    • Participates in on-call rotation and responds in a timely manner as defined by management.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Required :
    • 2+ years network engineering experience supporting and maintaining local and wide area networks.
    • Experience with: TCP/IP, QoS, VoIP, Extranet/VPN/Firewall/PPTP/IPSEC, Layer 2/3 design.
    • Experience with routers/switches, wireless systems, Cisco, Juniper, F5 and Palo Alto equipment.
    • Familiarity and experience with a variety of network monitoring tools.
    • Certifications/diplomas: CompTIA Network+
    • Excellent understanding of:
      • OSI model with specific emphasis on layers 1 through 3.
      • VLAN trunking, tagging and routing.
      • QoS, VoIP, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, ATM, LTM, ASM, MPLS, and frame relay.
      • 802.11x wireless technologies.
    • Ability to:
      • Identify, plan (including costs) and implement new data network technologies and projects.
      • Utilize network sniffing tools to log, analyze and resolve pervasive network issues.
      • Configure and troubleshoot WAN, LAN and WLAN technologies.
    • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
    • Provide superior service, communicating clearly with IT and Clinical staff.
    • Ability to develop and maintain good vendor and business partner relationships.
    • Ability to discuss technical issues at differing levels of understanding.
    • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
    • Ability to be professional, calm and collected, even in the face of serious adversity.
    • Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to others.
    • Excellent problem troubleshooting skills.
  • Desired :
    • BS/BA or comparable experience.
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified (JNCIS/JNCIP).
