TITLE: IT Director

We are seeking to fill a critical role for our IT Director, for our Herndon, VA location. The director will manage multiple complex programs and project teams with broad scope and high impact, driven by aggressive time frames. Project assignments are cross functional, of significant magnitude and important to the execution of corporate business strategies and achievement of company objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Execute transformation of program and project governance policy, processes and procedures. Drive cultural change of project engagement and accountability.
  • Oversees all aspects of project management including, analyzing project requests, aligning projects with business priorities, and allocating resources to execute projects.
  • Set deadlines, assigning responsibilities, and manage team resources.
  • Prepare metrics and governance reports to support management and execution pf projects.
  • Apply risk management assessment in project planning and ongoing execution.
  • Drive resolution of issues and conflicts associated with managing and coordination of complex organizational projects.
  • Provide internal leadership and coordination of project dependencies with vendors and business contacts as needed.
  • Serve as the conduit between the business functions and development team through which requirements flow and has overall responsibility for managing change initiatives.
  • Identifies, develops and delivers training/mentoring to Business Analysts and project team members as appropriate required for implementation.
  • Ensures corporate compliance with the appropriate statues and regulations by jurisdiction, and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains systems to track all department projects.
  • Maintains a centralized cost center to ensure consistent data is used by all Business Analysts.
  • May lead other resources and functions as needed during transformation of governance.
  • Ensure mapping of project requirements to ensure adequate quality assurance of released products into production environments.
  • Facilitates the demand management process by creating business forms in conjunction with project sponsor, creates business cases by using various business analysis.
  • Communicates with project stakeholders, manages expectations, controls scope creep and reports progress.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, minimum of 15 years work experience plus an equal amount of experience in lieu of education, plus 10 years of relevant experience
  • Project Management Professional certification or equivalent certification is required.
  • 10+ years of management, leadership and organizational skills.
  • 10+ years of experience directing staff with direct reporting structures.
  • 5+ years of experience using a commercial project management tools such as MS Project

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master degree in business or computer science preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification a plus
  • Statistical analysis of complex data
  • Knowledgeable in software development methodologies and technologies. Cognizant of infrastructure requirements to support high-availability business applications.
  • Must be detailed oriented with excellent analysis skills including experience with developing and managing project budgets and costs.
  • Ability to identify problems and risks and to recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills should be complimented with a solid business and technical background, and a keen interest in business operations and change impact.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed above.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with all levels of management and staff, both technical and non-technical, as well as customers and vendors.
  • Proven leader; able to establish and maintain technology projects through full system development life cycle or project life cycle.
