      Responsibilities:
      The IT Developer 2 will be responsible for assisting in the design and writing of “line of business” applications, building middleware for system integrations, and enhancement modifications to existing systems. This position will also be responsible for maintaining and upgrading existing systems developed in-house as new requirements are defined, and providing emergency patches when necessary for production systems. Also when needed this position will act as a technical resource for Business Analysts and IT Project Managers during the feasibility and design phases of their projects.

      The IT Developer 2 will also be expected to build data models in relational database systems. The position will be part of a team of developers; however, they should be able to work independently on smaller projects.

      Job responsibilities include:

      • Develop original software to enhance business processes and find efficiencies.
      • Follow and enforce the Kemin development standards.
      • Learn the existing line of business applications and the associated business functionality.
      • Provide technical documentation and troubleshooting guides to administrators and facilitate the handoff from development to systems support teams.
      • Provide a timely and effective response to escalated user queries by analyzing, investigating and fixing bugs in production software as required.
      • Ensure proper stakeholder communication and escalation as required.
      • Act as a part of a team, but work independently when necessary.
      • Perform ‘root cause’ analysis on user issues/bugs and provide immediate workaround for critical problems.
      • Actively own and maintain support documentation for system developed.
      • Develop strong relationship with the infrastructure and support teams to resolve production issues in a timely manner.
      • Good general awareness of Information Security policies and Technology Risk Management.
      • Plan for and perform upgrades for production software.
      • Work with product owners and business analyst to define design requirements.
      • Keep up with the latest development trends and have an open mind to new technologies and methodologies.

      Qualifications:
      Bachelor degree in the field of information technology and 5-10 years of prior experience desired, preferably with designing software for a manufacturing company. Candidates with an AA Degree with appropriate experience will be considered.

      SKILLS REQUIRED:

      Software development experience, preferably in C# and should have experience coding with the .Net Framework or .Net Core using Visual Studio. This position should also have experience coding with Javascript, JQuery, C#, Ruby, Python, HTML5, Entity Framework 6, and Razor. Should have a basic understanding of the MVC design pattern.

      Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent team player. Willingness to learn new technologies, tools and business processes. Experience with Agile is a plus, but not required. Should have an understanding of project management and the different phases and roles of an IT project.

      Should also have experience with Azure/AWS, Office 365, and SharePoint Development.

      • College degree in a technical field, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5-10 years’ work experience.
      • Minimum 2 years’ experience with C# programming.
      • Experience with VB and Java programming a plus.
      • Plan for and perform upgrades to production software.
      • Maintain development and test environments.
      • Experience writing technical documentation and providing training.
      • Effective written and oral communication skills.
      • Experience with the MVC design pattern.
      • Experience with source control software such as SVN or Git.
      • Must be able to “think outside the box” when coming up with solutions to problems.
      • U.S. based position, but candidate must be willing to travel on a limited basis upon request.

      Working Conditions: The position is based at Kemin Industries in Des Moines, Iowa. The exempt-level position is considered to be 40 hours per week, but requires flexibility.
