IT Database Analyst, Senior

The Information Technology Division is seeking a Database Analyst, Senior to work on the Database Administration (DBA) team. This person will perform as part of the DBA team to resolve complex database problems and provide expertise in design, tuning, maintenance, and backup/recovery of Oracle 12c RAC databases.

This position will implement and enforce database standards and procedures, oversee security databases, and consult on the design of complex logical and physical data models, and provide expertise in the tuning, maintenance, high availability, backup and recovery of Oracle. Applicants should have extensive experience with Oracle 12c RAC. This Oracle DBA role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems, and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high level of competence and understanding of Oracle 12c RAC database architectures, knowledge of database design best practices, and experience with enterprise systems support
• Define and implement appropriate database administrative best practices across all systems
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain database system and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods
• Manage current high availability/disaster recovery replication processes and enhance/improve as needed
• Review existing and proposed database architectures and recommend changes to improve/optimize database performance
• Coordinate scheduling of maintenance tasks needed to ensure database availability and optimization
• Define and develop performance tuning methodologies for the database team
• Work with vendors to assess, implement, customize database installations to meet requirements
• Provide 24×7 database support for critical applications
• Complete long-range database planning and design
• Train staff in data cataloging and library procedures
• Oversee and ensure security of databases and supporting production software

Minimum Qualifications: (NOTE: Requires at least three years at the IT Database Analyst level, or equivalent, AND all the following requirements. Experience must have been gained within the last ten years.)

• Experience resolving complex database problems on various applications within an agency
• Experience participating on a project team as a Database Analyst in a leadership role
• Experience conducting research and writing reports on database issues for management considerations
• Experience providing technical assistance on database management systems to management, clients, and other IT staff
• Conducting training for agency management and IT staff on database operations

Additional Qualifications: Are not required; however, having the minimum qualifications and the education and/or education below will increase your score.
