Position: IT Database Administrator III (Multiple Openings)

Description

Responsible for the standards, design and implementation of the physical data storage, maintenance, access, security administration, performance and data integrity of assigned databases.

Work at the highest level of all phases of database management.

Create database schemas and sub-schemas to support the physical database model.

Develop, monitor, and maintain backup and recovery for assigned databases to include the appropriate transaction logging. Work with application programmers, data analysts, business user personnel and project managers to develop the physical database design, make recommendations and design referential integrity.

Perform database performance monitoring and analysis and proactively implement needed adjustments, including reorganizing database structures and data.

Maintain documentation of backup and recovery procedures of the physical data storage and logical data design for assigned databases.

Provide Database Security setup and maintenance for the protection of data.

Work with and follow design guideline for Multi-Dimensional Clustering in OLAP environments.

Perform OS and Database tuning including resource and configuration of environmental and database identifying and remediation of performance bottlenecks and response times

Utilize experience with: Job Control Language (JCL); UNIX shell scripting and/or Perl scripting to perform system and database tasks; Change Data Capture technology; Data Warehousing including Partitioned Database Environments with emphasis on parallel processing; Replication technologies including Q-Rep and/or SQL Replication; Physical Database Design and data storage principals to obtain optimum disk performance; DB2 process; and Database Availability including HA and Disaster Recovery setup.

Requirements

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, or related field plus 6 years of progressive experience in positions performing the same duties.

In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronics Engineering, or related field plus 4 years of experience in positions performing the same duties.

Must be an IBM Certified Database Administrator
