IT Data Analyst

The Data Analyst is a hybrid technology and business role reporting to Project Services in IT. Providing insights throughout the organization by leveraging business analytics tools. Works closely with the business to develop engaging reports and stunning visualizations of available data. The Data Analyst will be working on projects to provide custom reports and dashboards.

The GC IT Data Analyst provides insights throughout the organization by leveraging business analytics tools.

Leverages tools to connect to hundreds of data sources, simplify data prep, and drive ad hoc analysis.

Produces beautiful reports, then publishes them to the organization to consume on the web or internal systems.

Creates dashboards and develops practice guidelines to enable others to produce personalized dashboards with a unique, 360-degree view of their business.

Provides expertise on the delivery of scaled insights across the enterprise, with governance and security built-in.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

A talented data visualization specialist works with Power BI tools to create custom reports and dashboards.

A successful candidate will be able to advise the customer or user on working with data through a defined discovery and definition approach.

Be a trusted advisor to the business on the best layout and presentation given the available data sources.

Preferred Qualifications:

A professional degree in technical sciences where a refined curriculum was followed to learn foundational principles of design and development.

Creative examples and work samples for a portfolio that demonstrates adherence to process and best practice.
A background in content creation using best in class products in order to generate reports and dashboards.

Technical Skills:
- Software : strong in Power BI , Tableau, or others a plus (Google Analytics, Salesforce Einstein)
- Languages : Scripted or Configuration-first either platform or product specific, or generic like R, Python, and SQL
- Databases : SQL Server, Postgres, or Common Data Services (Azure SQL); or other industry standard
- Data Architecture : Familiarity with industry standard platforms and products (Microsoft and Azure)
- Data Warehouse Architecture : Familiar with Bill Inmon, or Ralph Kimball (schemas) history and background
- Data Movement : ETL or data integration a plus
Professional Experience:
- Leading and contributing to working groups, clubs, groups/guilds, or organizations that discusses data science in business
- Active participation or membership in the local technical community supporting workshops and events to grow knowledge in data science outreach
- Team building participation and coaching either company or community driven
