Come join our IT Architecture, Budget, & Asset Unit with our IT Asset Management Support position! This position is located in the Division of Business Management (DBM), Bureau of Information Technology Services (BITS), which is located at the new Hill Farms State Office Building at 4822 Madison Yards Way in Madison.

Position Summary:

The IT Asset Management Support position will manage and control the Department-wide information technology (IT) assets. This includes coordinating relationships and activities with IT vendors, technical staff and end users on the use of the IT Asset Management systems, lead acquisition-planning activities, procurement of a variety of IT hardware, software and IT services.

This position also trains new staff on the IT procurement process and tools used, in addition to administering inventory systems and following the IT contractor Vendor Management System (VMS). The position will access and utilize the IT Asset Management inventory tool (Cherwell), State of Wisconsin finance tool (STAR), IT contractor system (FieldGlass), and other software used to provide information to the business regarding IT asset information.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and skill in working with a broad range of IT hardware, software, and services.
  • Knowledge and skill in working with complex, computer-based or on-line ordering and inventory systems, vendor management systems, and ITSM systems.
  • Extensive problem solving skills.
  • Considerable knowledge and skill in working with common business operations, such as accounting, purchasing, accounts payable, inventory, contracts, etc.
  • Knowledge and skill in working and communicating with product sales personnel and account representatives.
  • Extensive knowledge and skill in working in a customer service related environment.
  • Considerable skill in working in a team environment.
  • Considerable skill in principles and practices of effective written communication; including report generation, proposals, recommendations, and presentation materials.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and operate a pallet jack.

Qualifications:

Minimally qualified candidates must have the following:

  • Experience with IT Asset Management, such as utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems or Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) tools.
  • Experience with creating and/or updating technical documentation.
