IT Applications Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Summer Intern

Opportunity:

Our 10-week Summer Internship Program is an ideal way for both undergrad and graduate students to gain real-life work experience while learning what a career at Blue Shield of California can offer. Interns work on real-world projects and initiatives while being immersed in all aspects of our business. From interacting with senior leadership to visiting a neighborhood health clinic, interns will build a better understanding of the diversity and complexities of working in the dynamic world of health insurance.

Our goal is to build a talent pipeline that will help us grow our company into the future.

Below is some information on the project this intern will be working on:

The IT Applications – EDI Summer Intern will be responsible for building the platform for EDI projects. Specific objectives and deliverables of the internship include, but are not limited to:

•
Supporting the IT Application EDI development team in the following areas:

o Secure file transfer (SFTP) coding and unit testing

o Managed file transfer(MQ-MFT) coding and unit testing

o Transformation Extender Advanced coding and unit testing

– Create / update technical design documents

– Identify opportunities for automation

• Deliverables

o Unite tested code

o Technical design documents

Qualifications

Candidate Profile and Requirements:


• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college/university

• Minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA

• Technical skills required:

o IBM WebSphere Products

– Sterling File Gateway

– ITXA

• Additional skills/characteristics preferred:

o IBM WebSphere Products

– MQ-MFT

– WTX

– IIB/ WMB

– WMQ

– DataPower

Compensation:

Blue Shield of California offers Summer Interns a competitive compensation package. Housing and relocation assistance is not available.
